Why Prepare?

Destruction After A Natural Disaster

A man looks over the destruction caused by a natural disaster.

I was thinking about doing an article on “Why Prepare?” and then I opened up my YouTube, and there happened to be a video by the user USFreedom22 that covered this. Some of the below information is parsed and influenced by the video he put up.

Some people may view “preppers” as crazy people who are always focusing on doom and gloom. Though, there are some people who are focusing on doom and gloom that are practicing preparedness, and everything they do revolves around prepping; there are other people who do happen to prep, and prep in practical ways.

Prepping is a-lot like having insurance or a savings account. It helps you make sure that you can take care of your family and yourself in the case where something happens, and your normal means of sustaining yourself may not be available. If something bad happens you have life-insurance to take care of your loved ones after you pass, if something bad or unexpected happens financially, you have a savings account to cover this issue. Prepping is similar to this in that what you put back when you are prepping allows for you make it through an unfortunate event more easily than if you were not prepared.

There is such a range reasons and motivations of why people prep, and it is easy to get caught up in why you should prep, whether it be the economy’s current state, or some looming disaster that is on the horizon, or some conspiracy type disaster that a person like Alex Jones is raising awareness to.

At the end of the day it is easier for a person to sleep when there is turmoil and hard times around them to know that they do have some items and skills put back just in cause something goes wrong. To what extent you prepare is really up to you, if you only have the means to prepare yourself by researching and practicing bushcrafting methods, then you will still be more prepared than most people; if you have the means and will to put back a little food after each time you go to the grocery store, you will be prepared than a-lot of people, if you teach yourself how to put food into long-term food storage, and procure firearms and practice with your firearms, you will probably be within a faction of a percent of the most prepared.

Below is Freedom’s Video:

If you have a specific reason why you prep, or any questions, feel free to interact by leaving a comment on this blog post.
