I am Nate, my wife and I are the two main people behind Prepping Blog we started this site as a way to share information, while this site is updated fairly regularly, it is one of the many projects that Nate is a part of, and thus this site does (sometimes) fall to the back-burner on the list of things to do.

Primarily and Foremost, We are Christians that means we are followers of Christ this means that we do hold the Bible as inerrant and breathed by God.

We started Prepping, in 2008 while we did not know what we were doing was called prepping, we have always kept a deep store of food. It was in 2008 also when we first started taking steeps to increase our level of being “secure” in our own home (a 500sq ft apartment at the time). We then built up alternate means of having shelter, energy, food, and protection.

I am not sure when we first figured out what we were doing was called “prepping” but my guess is that this happened somewhere in 2009 or 2010, lurking on YouTube. And we didn’t start identifying ourselves as “preppers” until sometime in 2011.

At the beginning of 2012 I started a company called Prepper Outfitters LLC and was more successful than I had expected with that company, though as of Today, in April of 2013, that company is still operating and is offering less product than when the company initially launched, product is offered through that site only when I can acquire high quality goods and reasonable prices.

At the end of 2012 I become very disenfranchised with most of the “prepper” community end closed the doors to the Prepper Outfitters LLC company; while the company was profitable, shows like “Doomsday Preppers” and some larger doom and gloom channels on YouTube had ruined the prepper name.

During 2013 I continued to put content out on my YouTube channel which I re-branded from “Prepper Nate” to “Nate’s Homestead Lifestyle”. During 2013 I have become very inspired by the likes of channels like WranglerStar and Vlogbrothers to peruse content creation as a means of supplementing my income. I met my success goals for that inital test during 2013.

Nate and his Son

At the end of 2013 my first child (a son) was born; this has caused me to rethink how I will be able to continue to provide for him going forward and ensure that he is able to survive and thrive.

Originally, this site was started to share information and link together all the “good” information that could be found on the internet about Prepping. As my opinions have evolved about prepping and preparedness the types of information that are out there I decided that it best, not link or support certain sites and generators of content in the “prepper” community.

Today, the goal of Prepping Blog is to share information about Prepping that does not include any fear-mongering, or doomsday fantasies; and is activly being rebranded as a “modern homesteading” or “urban homesteading” blog. I have culled most of the links that perpetuated the doomsday fantasies of some and will continue to look for opportunities to make this body of work something I am proud of. While as a body of work, any content that was produced on this site, that supported “doomsdayers” will stay, any links will be removed or “no-followed” as I see appropriate.

We actively moderate, the comments and trackbacks here on Prepping Blog, and strive to not allow any spam or low quality comments to be posted here on our site.

Anyway, Thank-You! for visiting Prepping Blog and feel free to Contact Us if you have any questions or concerns.

“25 I know that my Savior lives, and at the end he will stand on this earth. 26 My flesh may be destroyed, yet from this body I will see God.Yes, I will see him for myself, and I long for that moment.”

Job 19:25-26 (CEV)
